As part of our assignment for a photography workshop, I walked around the Makati Business District to capture a story about daily city life, that of its citizens toiling about from one place to another – the pedestrians. As my story was developing, I realized that I should shoot in monochrome, to convey not only the mood I was going for, but the analogy that as pedestrians, we should always have a sense of right or wrong – white or black. I then retained other basic colors, specifically those of traffic lights, completing my thematic statement that a law abiding, duty-bound citizen walking our streets should only see red, green, and black or white.
